Berluti Mclaughlin & Kutchin LLP is well represented on the 2025 Super Lawyers’ and Rising Stars Lists, with four attorneys recognized on the Super Lawyers list and two on the Rising Stars list. BMK is no stranger to the Super Lawyers list – since the formation of BMK in 2011, Super Lawyers has named at least one BMK attorney each year. This year, Attorneys Robert Berluti, Matthew Gens, and Edward Kutchin were selected as Super Lawyers for their work in Business Litigation, and Attorney John McLaughlin was selected for his work in Closely Held Businesses. Additionally, Attorneys Michael Bednarz and Brendan Cooke were selected as Rising Stars in the Business Litigation practice area.
The recognition list published by Super Lawyers can also serve as a search engine; with an internal review and selection process, Super Lawyers curates a multijurisdictional community of highly recommended and talented attorneys. Super Lawyers states that “the objective of Super Lawyers’ patented multiphase selection process (U.S. Pat. No. 8,412,564) is to create a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource when searching for legal counsel.” To be selected, you must be nominated by a peer, managing partner, SL research team or a third party. The SL research team will then conduct independent research and distribute peer evaluations to gather metrics and information on nominees. Lastly, they will make the final selection process and assemble the list based on all information gathered.

Attorney John McLaughin has been selected through a peer nomination as a Super Lawyer for the 2024-2025 year. A peer nomination consists of a nomination by a barred attorney outside of one’s own firm. Attorney Brendan Cooke focuses his practice on real estate litigation, easement rights, and breach of contract disputes.
